June 2022 OBX Events

June is always an exciting month in the Outer Banks. With summer heating up, there are plenty of places to go and events to enjoy. Here is just a sampling of what’s going on in OBX this month!

June 3

6-8 pm

First Friday in Manteo

Every month, join the area’s businesses, restaurants, and galleries to celebrate Manteo’s vibrant downtown. This street festival will make any new visitor fall in love with OBX’s charming coastal communities.

June 3-5

Ocrafolk Festival

Get your toes tapping with an island celebration of musicians, storytellers, artisans, local food, and more at the Ocrafolk Festival. This full weekend event is held in the heart of Ocracoke Village, with performances and activities for the whole family. (Ferry ride to Ocracoke Island is required to get to the festival)

June 4

9 am-6 pm

Dare Day Festival

Held along the downtown waterfront, this festival celebrates the local Manteo culture and community. Live music will kick off at around 11:00 a.m., with the original Rhondels – a famed soul and beach music band – on the Downtown stage.

June 9

7:30-9 am

Sunrise 5k & LIttle Crab Crawl

Run along the shores of Nags Head and enjoy a little friendly competition and comradery with fellow active visitors and locals while taking in a scenic OBX sunrise over the Atlantic. All paces welcome. (About a 1 hour drive to Nags Head from Corolla)

June 15

8 am-12 pm

Fritz Boyden Memorial Youth Tournament

The Fritz Boyden Memorial Youth Tournament is an annual fishing tournament that takes place on the famous Jennette’s Pier. It’s open to all anglers ages 16 and under. (About a 1 hour drive from Corolla)

June 16

6:30-9 pm

Sunset 5k & Carolina Pig Pickin’

Run and refuel, OBX style. In the heart of Nags Head, this fun and lightly competitive race cruises by the beaches and soundside regions where the sunset is at its natural best. Celebrate post-race with Carolina style BBQ.

June 17

Rogallo Kite Festival

Celebrate Francis Rogallo, NASA scientist and inventor of the flexible wing. His initial inventions started the sport of hang gliding, and his designs have carried over into the stunt kites, power kites and hang gliders that are flown today. (Just under an hour drive from Corolla)

June 21-22

10 am-6 pm

Under the Oaks Art Festival

Enjoy the views over the Currituck Sound as you peruse a colorful array of vibrant artworks and one-of-a-kind items. Bring a picnic blanket or chairs and enjoy lunch from one of our local vendors.
