First Friday in Manteo

April 1; 6-8 pm

Every month, join area businesses, restaurants, and galleries to celebrate Maneto’s vibrant downtown. This street festival will make any new visitor fall in love with OBX’s charming coastal communities.

Butterfly Festival

April 1-30; 9 am-5 pm

Visit Elizabethan Gardens during April to watch their grand release of butterflies. This event is a crowd-pleaser for the young and the young-at-heart.

Outer Banks Bike Week

April 16-24

Hosted by Harley Davidson, the 20th annual Outer Banks Bike Week features a full line-up of events across the Outer Banks islands. Bikers come back every year to enjoy the drive down N.C. Highway 12 from Corolla to Ocracoke.

Scallywag 5K/10K & Blackbeard’s 1/2 Marathon

April 23 & 24

Lace up your running shoes to benefit the Ocracoke Community Radio WOVV, Ocracoke School Athletic Boosters Club, and the Ocracoke Community Park. The 5k/10k run and the half-marathon weave their way through historic neighborhoods in the Village of Ocracoke and past the 2nd oldest lighthouse in the United States in continuous service. The 3-4 hour drive is worth it both for the scenery and for the joy of watching runners push their limits.

ESA Mid-Atlantic Regional Surfing Championship

April 30-May 2

2022 offers a unique opportunity to watch an Eastern Surfing Association Championship in Nags Head, OBX. This event, about an hour south of Corolla, attracts talented surfers from across the region, and well beyond, for a truly spectacular competition.
